Peacock Abstractions Quilt
The Peacock Abstractions Quilt was the first of Violet’s animal Abstractions quilt patterns to include multiple layout options. There are 3 different interpretations in the pattern, but the possibilities are endless using color and fabric variations!
The majestic Peacock Abstractions Quilt is a stunner with each intricate feather block showcasing precision points made through foundation paper piecing.
The cover quilt, also known as View A in the pattern, features a full tail spread across the majority of the 48” x 51” quilt. This version (shown at right) has a complete body, saddle feathers, corona head feathers and cute little feet.
The version shown below, View B in the pattern, has a side sweeping tail, finishes at a slightly smaller 48” square and does not contain the feet.
The third option, View C, utilizes only the feather blocks and my version shown uses 300 Kona cottons from the three Kona Cotton charm square color packs known as Bright 101, Dusty 101, and Pastel 101.
These quilts were made with Kona solids and Manchester cotton, both from Robert Kaufman.
Instructions assume a knowledge of foundation paper piecing. If you are new to paper piecing or just want a thorough explanation of the construction of these blocks, please visit our Tutorials page.

Errata
In the first printing of this pattern, in "VIEW B" under "Getting Started View B (back cover) uses..." (7) RIGHT facing Half Tail Feathers not LEFT facing.
Also in the cutting directions for "Cut eight rectangles from background fabric...", the (2) 3" x 5" should be (2) 3"x 15". The cutting diagram images are correct- it's only the cut list that is incorrect.
